Niki Harizi

Niki's family is from Albania and when he was diagnosed with leukemia, they had only been in the United States for a short period of time. Without a strong family support, Niki's first thought were his friends and teachers at school. He wasn't concerned about being sick; rather, he wanted to know how he would stay in touch with his friends.

Having the Hopecam computer at home was such a relief for Niki and his parents. During the long months when Niki was homebound, he used his laptop to write letters back and forth to his friends. It made him feel so much better just knowing his friends cared for him and he could keep in touch!
