Prior to this weekend, our crew member Brandon Snow picked up our RV from Beckley's Camping Center earlier this week and drove across country by himself from Maryland all the way to San Diego, California to meet up with the crew! He made an important stop at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and dropped of a care package from Hopecam. Thank you Brandon!
Len Forkas boarded a plane Saturday June 10th with his son Matt Forkas to join his Race Across America crew in San Diego, CA. Before he jetted off Saturday evening, Len was a speaker at TEDxTysons in the morning and then on 3 PM Saturday afternoon he joined fellow Board Member Nicolas Tempestini at the Victoria Station Salon & Spa for the 'Hopecam Buzzcut Challenge'. Nic's goal was to raise $10,000 for Hopecam and he was very close at $8,000. He decided to go ahead and cut all of his locks off with the assistance of Hopecam alumni child Ava. Thank you Nic for raising money for Hopecam! He started off with a level 4 shaver and went to a 1 (and said goodbye to ALL HIS HAIR!!!) - all to raise money for Hopecam so that children like Ava can defeat the social isolation and loneliness while receiving treatment for childhood cancer. Len also received a special new buzz cut from Ava and Jane (Len's stylist for 15 years!) Please help Nic reach his fundraising goal of $10,000 at his online Facebook Fundraiser.
Len met up with his crew on June 11th in San Diego, CA, and they went over the logistics of the vehicles and equipment needed to support Len on his 12 days. They have 2 support vans and the RV, that the crew will be supporting him in when the Race Across America starts. These vans are packed with cabinets, bike racks, ice, nutrition, and much more. They will be behind Len 24/7 during the 12 days.
Len's goal is to raise $1 million and as of today we are at $768,175! With the race starting in 1 day and 16 hours, lets help Len reach his $1 million dollars for a great send off and start to the Race Across America for Hopecam.
