Time Station 47: Dedicating Mc Henry to Josie

Len is a little more than 250 miles from the finish as he rides into Deep Creek Lake in Mc Henry, Maryland. Thank you to L. F. Jennings for sponsoring TS47. Here, Len is dedicating his ride to the memory of Josie, a 12 year-old from Warrenton, Virginia who bravely fought and never gave up. We are grateful to her family for sharing this:

"Josie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September of 2012 at the age of 10. We lived in Warrenton, Virginia and she attended Greenville Elementary and Auburn Middle school. Josie immediately went into aggressive chemotherapy which had her in the hospital 7 of every 10 days. She could not attend school or see most of her friends hardly at all. In January of 2013, she had her right tibia and knee replaced with an internal prosthesis. Even though the cancer was in her lungs, she never gave up the fight and refused to quit trying. After two years of chemotherapy and even an experimental treatment at NIH, the cancer finally won on October 12th 2014. She died peacefully in her sleep at home laying in bed with me, at the age of 12.

Josie was an amazing young lady who was always smiling and making others smile. She was always concerned with others and their feelings even when she was sick herself. She will always be my Angel and I miss her everyday."
